I’m not sure exactly what he would do. It could go either way. He could mess up whatever attempt he was making and that would endear him to her once again and lift her spirits. Or he could be perfect in his attempt and lift her spirits. Sometimes with Charles you never know.

Charles would probably want something romantic and Elsie would humour him because she would be happy to with him. I like think of them with a Cary Grant movie. The only one I can think of anything moment is Father Goose.

I think he would be a very melancholy drunk. His angst factor would go off the charts. Elsie would have to come and take him away from his dark thoughts.

If they talked about it I think it was all behind hidden words. I’m not explaining this well. LOL It was a kind of elephant in the room thing. Cancer/illness was never mentioned but it was the heart of the conversation without ever being said. They came to an understanding and I like to think it brought them even closer than they already are.
